Graduates & Article Clerks

How can I become a graduate or articled clerk at Gilbert + Tobin?

Gilbert + Tobin’s clerkship program is the core recruitment initiative for our graduate positions in all offices. However, we also recruit graduates on an ‘as needs basis’ – generally when a practice group has an increased workload.

Sydney graduate opportunities

Graduates start with the firm in one of two formal intakes – February and August each year. As a graduate, you will undertake real work, building relationships with partners, lawyers and clients and becoming an integral part of each practice group.

Our 18-month graduate program consists of two rotations of approximately nine months each. Rotations are available in all our Sydney practice areas and you will also be actively involved in non-chargeable work, including business development, knowledge management, training and pro bono work. At the end of the 18-month rotation period, we will discuss options for your placement as a junior lawyer. In addition to firm-funded Practical Legal Training, we have designed a graduate training program that complements your academic knowledge with invaluable practical and commercial skills. The fortnightly training program covers all the core skills and knowledge you require as a young lawyer.

We also recruit lateral graduates to our Sydney office on an ‘as needs basis’. Please contact Kristie Barton on 02 9263 4575 to discuss your interest in Sydney opportunities, or apply directly following the link at the bottom of the page.
